86.701-94—General applicability.
(a)
The provisions of this subpart apply to: 1994 through 2003 model year Otto-cycle and diesel light-duty vehicles; 1994 through 2003 model year Otto-cycle and diesel light-duty trucks; and 1994 and later model year Otto-cycle and diesel heavy-duty engines; and 2001 and later model year Otto-cycle heavy-duty vehicles and engines certified under the provisions of subpart S of this part. The provisions of subpart B of this part apply to this subpart. The provisions of § 86.1811-04(a)(5) and (p) apply to 2004 and later model year light-duty vehicles, light-duty trucks, and medium duty passenger vehicles.
(b)
References in this subpart to engine families and emission control systems shall be deemed to apply to durability groups and test groups as applicable for manufacturers certifying new light-duty vehicles, light-duty trucks, and Otto-cycle heavy-duty vehicles and engines under the provisions of subpart S of this part.
