On March 14, 2009, the partial skeletal remains of an unidentified male were found under thick brush located on South Surano Road in Wimauma, Hillsborough County, Florida. The decedent was likely between 12 and 16 years of age at the time of his death and estimated to have been deceased less than five years. An anthropological assessment revealed that the decedent was of Guatemalan or Hispanic/Mexican-American ancestry and may have been involved in heavy labor or agricultural work in life. He was wearing jeans with “ICE POLE USA” stitched on the leg and was carrying a wallet with a chain attached and the word “CHOPPER” embroidered on the leather. The image at left is a composite created by a forensic artist at the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children, to show what the decedent may have looked like in life. Some items, such as hair style, are the artist’s estimation to complete the image and should not be used as significant markers for identification.
