WELFARE AND INSTITUTIONS CODE
SECTION 18375-18378

18375. The intent of this chapter is to assist city and county
health agencies to provide preventive health care through public
health nursing services to the aged.

18376. (a) The State Department of Health Services may authorize
the payment of state funds to defray in part the cost of projects or
the continuation of projects under which the city or county health
agency provides a program of scheduled visits by public health nurses
to senior citizen housing and center facilities for health
consultant services.
   (b) The State Department of Health Services shall authorize the
payment of state funds to city and county health agencies, as well as
to the federal ACTION Agencies Retired Senior Volunteer Program to
train, coordinate, and reimburse senior volunteers who will augment
the program by providing referral, counseling, and other support
services to senior clients.
   (c) The state share of any such project shall not exceed 50
percent of funds expended in connection with that project, except
that if the project is established for the purposes set forth in
subdivision (b), the state shall not be required to provide matching
funds. City or county matching funds may be in the form of cash,
facilities or services on the basis of a local project plan submitted
to and approved by the department, except that if the project is
established for the purposes set forth in subdivision (b), neither
the city nor the county shall be required to provide matching funds.

18378. The California Commission on Aging shall render such
technical assistance and advice as is required by the department in
carrying out the provisions of this chapter.
