      Sec. 17b-109. (Formerly Sec. 17-12m). Photo identification cards. The Commissioner of Social Services may provide photo identification cards to recipients of assistance under the temporary family assistance program and to heads of households and their authorized representatives in the food stamp program. The commissioner may contract with public or private organizations for the provision of such cards.

      History: P.A. 93-262 authorized substitution of commissioner and department of social services for commissioner and department of income maintenance, effective July 1, 1993; Sec. 17-12m transferred to Sec. 17b-109 in 1995; June 18 Sp. Sess. P.A. 97-2 replaced a reference to aid to families with dependent children with temporary family assistance and deleted the July 1, 1986 deadline date by which the photo identification cards were to be distributed, thereby extending the program, effective July 1, 1997; P.A. 06-114 made issuance of photo identification cards discretionary rather than mandatory, deleted reference to "assistance checks" and made a technical change, effective July 1, 2006.
