216A.93 - ESTABLISHMENT OF COMMUNITY ACTION AGENCIES.

216A.93 ESTABLISHMENT OF COMMUNITY ACTION AGENCIES.

The division shall recognize and assist in the designation of
certain community action agencies to assist in the delivery of
community action programs. These programs shall include, but not be
limited to, outreach, low-income energy assistance, and
weatherization programs. If a community action agency is in effect
and currently serving an area, that community action agency shall
become the designated community action agency for that area. If
there is not a designated community action agency in the area a city
council or county board of supervisors or any combination of one or
more councils or boards may establish a community action agency and
may apply to the division for recognition. The council or board or
the combination may adopt an ordinance or resolution establishing a
community action agency if a community action agency has not been
designated. It is the purpose of the division of community action
agencies to strengthen, supplement, and coordinate efforts to develop
the full potential of each citizen by recognizing certain community
action agencies and the continuation of certain community-based
programs delivered by community action agencies.
