        279.52  OPTIONAL FUNDING OF ASBESTOS PROJECTS.
         The board of directors may pay the actual cost of an asbestos
      project from any funds in the general fund of the district, funds
      received from the physical plant and equipment levy, or moneys
      obtained through a federal asbestos loan program, to be repaid from
      any of the funds specified in this section over a three-year period.

         For the purpose of this section, "cost of an asbestos project"
      includes the costs of inspection and reinspection, sampling,
      analysis, assessment, response actions, operations and maintenance,
      training, periodic surveillance, developing of management plans and
      recordkeeping requirements relating to the presence of asbestos in
      school buildings of the district and its removal or encapsulation.
