321.186A - VISION REPORT IN LIEU OF VISION TEST.

        321.186A  VISION REPORT IN LIEU OF VISION TEST.         1.  An applicant for a new or renewed driver's license other than      a commercial driver's license need not take a vision test      administered by the department if the applicant files with the      department a vision report signed by a licensed vision specialist in      accordance with this section.         2.  An applicant for such a new or renewed driver's license who      fails a vision test administered by the department may subsequently      be issued the driver's license without need of passing a department      administered vision test, if the applicant files with the department      a vision report from a licensed vision specialist in accordance with      this section.         3.  The vision report shall state the visual acuity level of the      applicant as measured by the vision specialist and shall be in the      form and include other information as required by rule of the      department.  A vision report is valid only if the visual acuity level      of the applicant has been measured by the licensed vision specialist      within thirty days before the application for the new or renewed      driver's license.         4.  As used in this section, a "licensed vision specialist"      means a physician licensed under chapter 148 or an optometrist      licensed under chapter 154.
