Article 45.--CLASSIFICATION OF CRIMES AND PENALTIES

      21-4501a.   Application of certain penalties; review and reduction ofprevious sentences; crimes committed prior to July 1, 1993.(a) The minimum term of imprisonment established by subsection (e)of K.S.A. 21-4501 andamendments thereto shallapply retrospectively to individuals sentenced on or after May 17, 1984,for a class E felony.

      (b)   If an individual has been sentenced to a minimum term of imprisonmentof more than one year for a class E felony and the sentence was imposed onor after May 17, 1984, such minimum sentence is hereby reduced to one year.

      (c)   If an individual's minimum term of imprisonment is reduced bythis section, the individual shall be eligible for parole as provided byK.S.A. 22-3717 and amendments thereto, based upon the individual's reducedminimum term of imprisonment.

      (d)   The provisions of this section shall not apply to crimes committed on or after July 1, 1993.
