Article 1.--MARRIAGE

      23-109.   Marriage certificate; recording marriages.(a) Every person who performs a marriage ceremony under the provisions ofthis act shall endorse the person's certificate of the marriage on thelicense, give the duplicate copy of the license to theparties to the marriageand return the license, within 10 days afterthe marriage, to thejudge or clerk of the district court who issued it. The judge orclerk shall record the marriage on the marriagerecord in the office of the judge or clerkand shall forward, not later than the third day of thefollowing month, to thesecretary of health and environment the license and certificate ofmarriage, together with a statement of the names of the parties and thename and address of the person who performed the marriage ceremony.

      (b)   If no marriage license has been issued by the judge or clerk of thedistrict court during a month, the judge or clerk shall promptlynotify the secretary of health and environment to that effect on a formprovided for that purpose.
