Article 12.--WATERSHED DISTRICTS

      24-1210.   Directors; number; terms; expenses.All powers granted to watershed districts incorporated under theprovisions of this act shall be exercised by a board of directors whichshall be composed of any odd number and specified in the petition forcreation of the district, of qualified voters of the district. Suchboard shall be composed of not less than three and not more than 15qualified voters. Boards in existence on the effectivedate of this act consisting of morethan 15 members shall determine the number of board members, which in nocase shall exceed the current number of board members. At least one directorshall be selected from each subwatershed located within the district. Eachdirector shall serve for a term of three years, and until a successoris duly elected and qualified, except that one-third of the originaldirectors designated in the petition for organization of the district shallserve for a term of one year, one-third for a term of two years,one-third for a term of three years, from the date the certificate ofincorporation is filed of record in the office of the register of deeds ofeach county in which territory of the district is located. Such directorsshall serve without compensation, but shall be allowed actual and necessaryexpenses incurred in the performance of their official duties.
