      32-987.   Issues lost or stolen while in county clerk's possession.In the event of licenses, permits, stamps or other issues of the departmentwhich are lost, stolen or destroyed while in the possession of a county clerkor an agent appointed pursuant to K.S.A. 32-985, the secretary maymake such investigation as necessary and, if the secretary finds that thelicenses, permits, stamps or other issues were lost, stolen or destroyed by acause beyond the control of the county clerk or agent, the secretary may makean adjustment of the amount due for any such licenses, permits, stamps or otherissues and may entirely relieve the county clerk or agent for payment of thefees for such licenses, permits, stamps or other issues or may make such lesseradjustment as the secretary considers proper.
