Article 4.--HOSPITAL TREATMENT AND HOSPITALIZATION

      39-416.   County hospital fund for medically indigent persons in certaincounties; tax levy, use of proceeds.The board of county commissioners in any county having a population ofnot less than 175,000 or more than 250,000 may levy each year a tax uponall taxable tangible property in their respective counties and theproceeds thereof, except for an amount to pay a portion of the principaland interest on bonds issued under the authority of K.S.A. 12-1774,and amendments thereto, by cities located in the county, shall be placedinto a separate fund designated as "thecounty hospital fund," which fund is hereby created, and shall be usedonly to provide and pay for hospitalization for medically indigentpersons who have resided in any such county for a period of not lessthan one year immediately preceding any application for hospitalizationas a medically indigent person, and resided in the state for not lessthan two years during the four years immediately preceding anyapplication for hospitalization as a medically indigent person. Theprovisions of this act shall not abrogate or amend any other existinglaws relating to hospitalization of any person or persons.
