Chapter 47.--LIVESTOCK AND DOMESTIC ANIMALS
Article 4.--MARKS AND BRANDS

      47-422.   Effect of recording of brands; recordation, fee; evidence; useby another prohibited, penalty.Any brand recorded with the Kansas animal health board in compliancewith the requirements of this act shall be the property of the personcausing such record to be made and shall be subject to sale, assignment,transfer, devise, and descent as other personal property. Instruments ofwriting evidencing the sale, assignment or transfer of such brand shall berecorded by the livestock commissioner, and the fee for recording suchinstruments of writing shall be $15. Such instrumentsshallhave the same force and effect as recorded instruments affecting realestate, and a certified copy of the record of any such instrument may beintroduced in evidence the same as is now provided for certified copies ofinstruments affecting real estate. Any brand recorded with the Kansasanimal health department shall not be used by any person other than therecorded owner. Any person violating any provision of this section shall beguilty of a class C misdemeanor.
