Chapter 48.--MILITIA, DEFENSE AND PUBLIC SAFETY
Article 12.--EMERGENCY INTERIM EXECUTIVE AND JUDICIAL SUCCESSION ACT

      48-1204.   Successors to office of governor.If the governor, under theconstitution, is not able to exercise the powers and discharge the dutiesof the office, or is unavailable, an officer specified in K.S.A. 75-125 andamendments thereto, inthe order of succession provided by that section, shall exercise the powers andduties of the office of governor. If all such officers are not able or areunavailable to exercise the powers and discharge the duties of the office ofgovernor, the secretary ofstate, or, if the secretary of state is not able or is unavailable, theattorney general, shall exercise the powersand discharge the duties of the office of governor until a new governor iselected and qualified or until a preceding named officer becomesable andavailable. No emergency interim successorof an officer specified in K.S.A. 75-125 and amendments thereto or in thissection mayserve as governor.
