Chapter 48.--MILITIA, DEFENSE AND PUBLIC SAFETY
Article 9.--EMERGENCY PREPAREDNESS FOR DISASTERS

      48-931.   Development and revision of state, local andinterjurisdictional disaster plans; advice and assistance of localgovernment, business and civic leaders.(a) The division of emergency management shall take anintegral partin the development and revision of local and interjurisdictional disasteremergency plans prepared under K.S.A. 48-929 and 48-930, and amendmentsthereto. To thisend, the division of emergency management shall employ orotherwisesecure the services of professional and technical personnel capable ofproviding expert assistance to counties and cities, their disaster agenciesand interjurisdictional disaster agencies. These personnel shall consultwith such counties, cities and disaster agencies on a regularly scheduledbasis and shall make field examinations of the areas, circumstances andconditions to which particular local or interjurisdictional disasteremergency plans are intended to apply. The division of emergency management mayrequire revisions of such plans on thebasis of suchexaminations.

      (b)   In preparing and revising the state disaster emergency plan, thedivision of emergency management shall seek the advice andassistance oflocal government, business, labor, industry, agriculture, civic andvolunteer organizations and community leaders. In advising county, city andinterjurisdictional disaster agencies which are developing or revisingdisaster emergency plans, the division of emergencymanagement shallencourage such disaster agencies also to seek such advice and assistance.
