      55-425.   Standards for tests; test methods and equipment.(a) Whenever possible, in making any test pursuant to this act, thesecretary shall use methods and equipmentsimilar to thosemethods and equipment adopted by the American society for testingmaterials.Such methods of testing shall be prescribed by rules and regulations. Methodsof testing in existence prior to the effective date of the act shall continueuntil changed by rules and regulations adopted pursuant to the provisions ofthis act.

      (b)   The secretary is hereby authorized to enter into contracts for thetesting of petroleum products pursuant to the provisions of this act.

      (c)   The secretary is authorized to adopt, by rules and regulations, anyadditional methods of testing petroleum products and standards setting forthspecifications, tolerances and other technical requirements for the equipmentused in performing such tests. In establishing rules and regulations pursuantto this subsection, the secretary shall conform to the standards of theAmerican society for testing materials whenever possible. Specifications,tolerances and other technical requirements for the testing equipment inexistence prior to the effective date of the act shall continue until changedby rules and regulations adopted pursuant to the provisions of this act.
