Article 9.--ESTATES OF INTESTATES WITHOUT HEIRS

      59-901.   Administration; proceeds deposited in escheat proceedssuspense fund.The estate of an intestate decedent without known heirs shall beadministered in the same manner as the estate of any other intestatedecedent, except as herein otherwise provided. The administrator, asexpeditiously as possible, shall convert the personal property into money andcollect the rents, income and profits from the real estate. If no oneclaims as heir, devisee or legatee within six months after theappointment of the administrator, the administrator shall sell the realestate and close the estate as other estates are closed and remit the netproceeds of the estate to the state treasurer in accordance with theprovisions of K.S.A. 75-4215, and amendments thereto. Upon receipt ofeach such remittance, the state treasurershalldeposit the entire amount in the state treasury tothe credit of the escheat proceedssuspense fund. Alldisbursements and transfers from such fund shall be made upon specialwarrants of the director of accounts and reports issued pursuant to specialvouchers approved by the secretary of revenue or by a person or personsdesignated by the secretary.
