Article 31.--PROTECTION FROM ABUSE ACT

      60-3104.   Commencement of proceedings; personsseeking relief on behalf ofminor child; forms; no docket fee; confidentiality of certain matters,exceptions.(a) An intimate partner or household member may seekrelief under the protection from abuse act by filing averified petitionwith any district judge orwith the clerk of the court allegingabuse by another intimate partner orhousehold member.

      (b)   A parent of or an adult residing with a minor child may seek reliefunder the protection from abuse act on behalf of the minor child by filing averified petition with any district judge or with the clerk of the courtalleging abuse by another intimate partner orhousehold member.

      (c)   The clerk of the courtshall supply the formsfor the petition and orders, which shall be prescribed by the judicialcouncil.

      (d)   Service of process served under this section shall be bypersonalservice and not by certified mail return receipt requested.No docket fee shall be required for proceedings under the protection fromabuse act.

      (e)   If the court finds that the plaintiff's address or telephone number,or both,needs to remainconfidential for the protection of the plaintiff, plaintiff's minor children orminor children residing with the plaintiff, such information shall not bedisclosed to the public, but only to authorized court or law enforcementpersonnel and to the commission on judicial performance in the discharge ofthe commission's duties pursuant to article 32 of chapter 20 of the KansasStatutes Annotated, and amendments thereto.
