Article 14.--REGULATION OF DENTISTS AND DENTAL HYGIENISTS

      65-1459.   Dental interns; rules and regulations;revocation of permits.(a) The board shall have authority, upon presentation of satisfactorycredentials and under such rules and regulations as the board mayprescribe, to issue a permit to a graduate of an approved dental school orcollege who has not been licensed to practice dentistry inthis state, and who has not failed to pass an examination forlicensure inthis state, to serve as a dental intern for a period of not more than oneyear in state maintained and operated hospitals,or the department ofhealth and environment of the state of Kansas that may offersucha position if such hospitals maintain a recognized resident staff of oneor more licensed dentists. Such intern shall function under thesupervision and direction of the dental staff of such hospitals,the intern's work shall be limited to the patientsconfined to the hospitalin which suchintern serves, and such intern shall serve without fee orcompensation otherthan that received in salary or other remuneration from such hospitals.

      (b)   The board shall have the power to revoke the permit of any suchinternat any time within the year for which it is issued upon the recommendationof such procedure by the executive officer of the resident dental staff ofthe hospital in which such intern serves or for any other reason which theboard may deem justifiable. Such limited permits granted for the purpose ofinternships shall automatically expire at the end of one year and shall notbe subject to renewal.
