      65-6118.   Ambulance service taxing district; creation; governing body; tax levy.Whenever the board of county commissioners of any county whichis furnishing ambulance services within the county under the authority ofthis act shall determine that such service can best be provided by thecreation of an ambulance service taxing district, such board shall byresolution create and establish such district and define the boundariesthereof. The boundaries of such district shall include the territoryreceiving ambulance service provided by the county on the date of theadoption of the resolution creating such district. The board of countycommissioners shall be the governing body of the district and shall havethe authority, powers and duties granted to boards of county commissionersunder the authority of this act, except that all costs incurred by thegoverning body of the district in providing ambulance services in suchdistrict shall be paid from the proceeds of the tax levies of the districthereinafter authorized. The provisions of this act shall govern theoperation of ambulances providing services within districts establishedunder the provisions of this section. The governing body of each ambulanceservice taxing district is hereby authorized to levy an annual tax upon alltaxable tangible property in such district in accordance with theprovisions of K.S.A. 65-6113. The county treasurer shallreceive and have custody of all of the funds of the district and shallexpend the same upon the order of the governing body of the district asprovided by law.
