      65-6a35.   Cooperation with U.S. secretary ofagriculture; appointmentto advisory committees.(a) The Kansas department of agriculture is herebydesignated as the state agency which shall be responsible for cooperating withthe secretary of agriculture of the United States under the provisions ofsection 301 of the federal meat inspection act, and section 5 of the federalpoultry inspection act.

      (b)   In such cooperative efforts, the secretary ofagriculture is authorizedto accept from the secretary of agriculture of the United States advisoryassistance in planning and otherwise developing the state program,technical and laboratory assistance and training (including necessarycurricular and instructional materials and equipment), and financial andother aid for administration of such a program.

      (c)   The secretary of agriculture is further authorized torecommend to the secretary of agriculture of the United States suchofficials or employees of this state as the secretary ofagriculture shall designate, for appointment to the advisory committeesprovided for in section 301 of thefederal meat inspection act; and the secretary ofagriculture or the secretary's delegate shall serve as therepresentative of the governor for consultation with thesecretary of agriculture of the United States under paragraph (c) of section301 of the act.
