Article 13.--TEACHERS' LICENSES

      72-1396.   Same; exemptions.(a) Any person holding a teaching license valid inthe state of Kansas which was issued prior to May 1, 1986, is exempt fromthe examination required by this act.

      (b)   The following persons, or any class or classes thereof,may be exempted by the state board of education from the examinationrequired by this act:

      (1)   Any person holding a teaching license valid inany other state ifthe requirements under which the license was issuedare comparable, inthe opinion of the state board, to the requirements of thisstate, other than examination, for issuance of a teachinglicense.

      (2)   Any person applying for a one-year, nonrenewablelicense if the person meets allrequirements for licensure, other thanexamination, for issuance of a teaching license.

      (3)   Any person applying for licensure by thestate board toprovide services in a position for which the state board deems theexamination is inappropriate or unnecessary if the person meetsthe licensure requirements which have beenestablished by the stateboard as appropriate and necessary for the position.
