95.565 Credit under pension system for time spent in Armed Forces. Any member of the police or fire department of a city of the third class, who, while a <br>member of the police or fire department, entered the Armed Forces of the United States, <br>and who was honorably discharged therefrom, shall upon his return to that police or fire <br>department be entitled to the same pension or benefits provided by KRS 95.560, and his <br>beneficiaries shall be entitled to the same pension under KRS 95.550, as if the member <br>had remained on active duty with that police or fire department, and his time served in the <br>Armed Forces shall be added to his previous service and shall be construed for purposes <br>of eligibility for pensions or benefits, either for himself or his beneficiaries, as a part and <br>continuation of his consecutive years of service with that police or fire department. This <br>section shall apply only to those members who served in World War II, who apply for <br>reinstatement within ninety (90) days after the date on which the member first received or <br>could have received an honorable discharge, and shall not apply to those members <br>reenlisting in the Armed Forces of the United States.
