95.763 Appointment of civil service commission -- Qualifications -- Term -- Vacancies -- Officers -- Oath. The mayor, by and with the approval of the legislative body, shall appoint three (3) <br>citizens, who have been taxpayers and voters of the city for five (5) years previous to their <br>appointment, and who shall not be less than thirty (30) years of age, who shall constitute <br>the civil service commission of said city. Such appointees shall originally be appointed <br>for one (1) year, two (2) years and three (3) years, respectively, and the successors of such <br>appointees shall be appointed in like manner, each for a period of three (3) years. Any <br>member of the civil service commission shall be eligible for reappointment. Vacancies <br>shall be filled in the same manner as appointments of said commissioners are made, <br>provided that any person appointed to fill a vacancy shall serve only to the end of the term <br>of the commissioner whose office was vacated. Said commissioners shall elect one (1) of <br>their members as chairman and one (1) as secretary of the civil service commission. Each <br>of said commissioners shall qualify by taking the oath as prescribed by the Constitution of <br>Kentucky. History: Created 1942 Ky. Acts ch. 9, sec. 4.
