Chapter 308: TRANSITIONAL SERVICES COORDINATION PROJECTS FOR STUDENTS WITH DISABILITIES

§7802. Definitions

As used in this chapter, unless the context otherwise indicates, the following terms have the following meanings. [1985, c. 768, §1 (NEW).]

1. Adult service agencies. "Adult service agencies" are those public and private agencies which provide services, as defined in this section, to youths and adults who are no longer eligible for school services due to graduation or becoming age-ineligible under Title 20, section 7001, subsection 2.

2. Students with disabilities in transition. " Students with disabilities in transition" are those students with disabilities who have attained the age of 14 years and meet the eligibility criteria as defined in the United States Rehabilitation Act, Public Law 93-112, Section 504, as amended.

3. Services. "Services" means those activities undertaken to provide special education, habilitation, rehabilitation, vocational and related services to students with disabilities in transition from school to community. These services may include, but are not limited to:

A. Identification of all students with disabilities in transition in schools and in the community; [2009, c. 147, §4 (AMD).]

B. Referral to appropriate community services and information regarding their location; [2007, c. 539, Pt. JJJJ, §3 (AMD).]

C. Technical assistance for student education and transition plan development and implementation; [1989, c. 899, §3 (NEW).]

D. Program development and evaluation; [1989, c. 899, §3 (NEW).]

E. Case management and student tracking; [1989, c. 899, §3 (NEW).]

F. Family training, counseling and support; [1989, c. 899, §3 (NEW).]

G. Employer training, counseling and support; [1989, c. 899, §3 (NEW).]

H. Facilitation of interagency communication and collaboration; and [1989, c. 899, §3 (NEW).]

I. Planning and conducting skill development training. [1989, c. 899, §3 (NEW).]

4. Transition. "Transition" means the coordination of school-based efforts and services with those services that are or will be provided by adult service agencies in preparation for later employment, community integration and independent living.

5. Interdepartmental council.

6. Commissioners. "Commissioners" means the Commissioner of Health and Human Services, the Commissioner of Education, the Commissioner of Labor and the Commissioner of Corrections.

7. Committee. "Committee" means the Interdepartmental Committee on Transition as established in section 7803.
