123.951 Local building authorities; incorporation; purposes.

Sec. 1.

A county, city, village, or township may incorporate, as provided in this act, 1 or more authorities for the purpose of acquiring, furnishing, equipping, owning, improving, enlarging, operating and maintaining a building or buildings, automobile parking lots or structures, recreational facilities, stadiums, and the necessary site or sites therefore, together with appurtenant properties and facilities necessary or convenient for the effective use of the facilities, for use for any legitimate public purpose of the county, city, village, or township. For purposes of this act, the development of a qualified facility pursuant to the federal facility development act, Act No. 275 of the Public Acts of 1992, being sections 3.931 to 3.940 of the Michigan Compiled Laws, or the federal data facility act, is considered a legitimate public purpose of a county or city if that county or city makes a determination that such a facility would result in economic development in that county or city.
