500.1238 Reporting mailing address of agent, solicitor, counselor, or adjuster; notice of change in mailing address; fee; maintaining mailing address on file; mailing of notice of hearing or process.

Sec. 1238.

(1) When applying for a license to act as an agent, solicitor, counselor, or adjuster, each applicant shall report his or her mailing address to the commissioner. An agent, solicitor, counselor, or adjuster shall notify the commissioner of any change in his or her mailing address within 30 days of such change. A fee of $3.00 shall accompany each change of address to cover costs of recording such change. A fee collected under this subsection shall be turned over to the state treasurer and credited to the general fund of the state. The commissioner shall maintain the mailing address of each agent, solicitor, counselor, or adjuster on file.

(2) A notice of hearing or service of process may be served upon an agent, solicitor, counselor, or adjuster in any action or proceeding for a violation of this act by mailing such notice or process by first class mail to the agent's, solicitor's, counselor's, or adjuster's mailing address which has been reported to the commissioner pursuant to subsection (1).
