Institutions to use coal from Missouri or adjoining states,when--institution defined.

34.080. 1. That the board of trustees or other officer orofficers in charge of every institution in the state of Missouriwhich is supported in whole or in part by public funds, and whoare required to purchase coal for fuel purposes in the operationof any such institution, shall be required to purchase and usecoal which is mined in the state of Missouri or an adjoiningstate, if the cost of coal mined in the state of Missouri or anadjoining state is not greater than the cost of coal mined in anyother state or states, including the cost of transportation.

2. The term "institution" shall be construed to include allinstitutions supported by public funds of the state, but shallnot include municipal corporations, political subdivisions orpublic schools.
