36.190. 1. The director shall give public notice of each opencompetitive and promotional examination sufficiently in advance of suchexamination and sufficiently widespread in scope to afford persons who areinterested in participating in the examination a reasonable opportunity toapply. The time elapsing between the official announcement of anexamination and the holding of such examination shall be not less than twocalendar weeks, except that a lesser period of advance notice may bepermissible under the regulations when the examination is conducted underthe provisions of subsection 3 of section 36.320 or when the needs of theservice pursuant to subsection 1 of section 36.260 require special notices.

2. Each official notice of an examination shall state the title,duties, pay and qualifications of positions for which the examination is tobe held; the time, place and manner of making application for admission tosuch examination; and any other information which the director considerspertinent and useful.

3. The director shall ensure that the official announcement of anexamination is given the widest distribution necessary to inform qualifiedpersons that the examination is being given. The director may use anymeans that the director considers necessary to inform qualified personsabout the examination. These include, but are not limited to, paidadvertisements in newspapers, periodicals, electronic media andannouncements to educational institutions. The director may also publish aperiodic bulletin containing information about examinations to be sent tosubscribers at a price approximating the cost of publication.
