Duty of the secretary of state.

71.040. The secretary of state shall, as soon as practicableafter the passage of this law, communicate with the county clerksin each county in this state, and ascertain the names of allcities, towns, villages or other municipal corporations therein,and arrange such names in alphabetical order for convenientreference. Such lists of names shall be kept filed in hisoffice, and shall be changed whenever a change of name shall beeffected under the provisions of this chapter.
