Council may acquire land for and maintain cemetery.

77.120. The city council shall have power to purchase,receive and hold real estate, as herein mentioned, for publiccemetery purposes, either within the city or within three milesthereof; provided, that no such cemetery shall exceed more thanone hundred and sixty acres in one body. The council shallprovide for the survey, platting, grading, fencing, ornamentingand improving of all the cemetery ground and the avenues leadingthereto, owned by the city, and may construct walks and protectornamental trees therein, and provide for paying the expensestherefor. The council may make rules and pass ordinancesimposing penalties and fines, not exceeding one hundred dollars,regulating, protecting and governing city cemeteries, the ownersof lots therein, visitors thereto, and punishing trespasserstherein; and the officers of such city shall have as fulljurisdiction and power in the enforcing of such rules andordinances as though they related to the city itself.
