School boards may expend district funds to provide accident andproperty damage insurance for members, when.

162.013. Notwithstanding other sections of the school lawswhich provide that members of school boards shall serve withoutcompensation, the school board of any school district in thestate, upon adoption of a resolution by the vote of a majority ofall its members to authorize such action, may expend schooldistrict funds to purchase insurance to indemnify the members ofthe school board, individually, against loss for damages forpersonal or bodily injury to a person, or for damage or loss ofproperty, caused by the negligent act, error, or omission of amember when acting within the scope of his office.
