Duties of department--monitoring environmental effects on publichealth--developing disease prevention plan.
192.011. 1. The department shall monitor the adverse health effects ofthe environment and prepare population risk assessments regardingenvironmental hazards including but not limited to those relating to water,air, toxic waste, solid waste, sewage disposal and others. The departmentshall make recommendations to the department of natural resources forimprovement of public health as related to the environment.
2. The department of health and senior services shall develop acomprehensive disease prevention plan to expand existing and to develop newprograms. Health insurers shall be consulted in an attempt to develop thedisease prevention plan so that it will be cost effective in relation to thecost of medical care.
