Commissions may appropriate swamplands.

245.540. The county commission of any county in which alevee district or a part of a district may be organized under theprovisions of sections 245.285 to 245.545 may, for the purpose ofconstructing its levee, appropriate any of its unappropriatedswamplands belonging to the county, and acquired under theprovisions of an act of the Congress of the United States,entitled "An act to enable the state of Arkansas and other statesto reclaim the swamp lands within their limits", approvedSeptember 28, 1850, and an act of the general assembly of thestate of Missouri, entitled "An act donating certain swamp andoverflowed lands to the counties in which they lie", approvedMarch 3, 1851, and subsequent acts--said lands to be received bythe contractor at a price of not less than one dollar andtwenty-five cents per acre.
