Rights of districts.

247.200. The district shall have the right to lay its mainsin public highways, roads, streets and alleys included in thedistrict, but the same shall be done under reasonable rules andregulations of governmental bodies having jurisdiction of suchpublic places. This shall apply to maintenance and repair jobs.In the construction of ditches, laying of mains, filling ofditches after mains are laid, connection of service pipes andrepairing of lines, due regard must be taken of the rights of thepublic in its use of thoroughfares and the equal rights of otherutilities thereto.

(1951) State highway commission had power to order water mains of public water supply district, existing under chapter 247, RSMo, in road right-of-way, removed and relocated at district's expense on taking over county road and converting same to state highway.
