262.577. The council shall cause the list of nominees namedby it to be published at least once, which publication shall benot more than fifty days nor less than thirty days prior to thedate fixed for the election. The publication of notice shallalso contain a statement that additional nominees for councilmembers may be made by petition of twenty-five or more qualifiedvoters residing within the district filed with the council withintwenty days after the publication of notice of election. Thenames of all such nominees shall be placed upon a ballot to besubmitted to the voters of the respective districts at theelection.
