263.520. 1. The department may destroy, or, at its discretion, causeto be treated with pesticides, volunteer or other noncommercial cotton andto establish procedures for the purchase and destruction of commercialcotton in eradication zones when the department deems such action necessaryto effectuate the purposes of sections 263.500 to 263.537.

2. No payment shall be made by the department to the owner or lesseefor the destruction or injury of any cotton which was planted in aneradication zone after publication of notice as provided in sections263.500 to 263.537, or was otherwise handled in violation of sections263.500 to 263.537, or the regulations adopted pursuant to sections 263.500to 263.537.

3. The department shall pay for losses resulting from the destructionof cotton which was planted in such zones prior to promulgation of suchnotice.
