Consolidation of two or more subdistricts, procedure.
278.257. 1. Petitions for consolidating two or morewatershed subdistricts may be filed with the supervisors of thesoil and water conservation district. In such cases theprovisions of sections 278.170 to 278.190 in respect to thecreation of a watershed subdistrict shall be observed.
2. If sixty-five percent of all landowners in each of theareas proposed to be consolidated voting in the referendum dovote in favor of the consolidation, the soil and water districtsupervisors shall declare the areas consolidated and the actionrecorded in the official minutes, except that if any subdistrictshall have issued bonds which are outstanding at the time of theconsolidation, the taxes levied to pay such bonds and theinterest thereon shall be an obligation of only the propertywithin such component subdistrict.
