Definitions.

305.505. As used in sections 305.500 to 305.585, unless thecontext requires otherwise, the following words and terms mean:

(1) "Airport", an area of land or water, the boundaries ofwhich shall be as designated by the authority for futureairports, and as existing for present airports, which is intendedfor the landing and takeoff of aircraft, which providesfacilities for the shelter, supply or care of aircraft, or forreceiving or discharging passengers or cargo, and all appurtenantareas used or suitable for airport buildings or other relatedfacilities, and all appurtenant rights-of-way, whether heretoforeor hereafter established, or for any purpose reasonably incidentto any of the foregoing;

(2) "Airport hazard", any structure, tree, or use of landwhich obstructs the airspace required for, or is otherwisehazardous to, or interferes with the flight of, aircraft inlanding or taking off at the airport;

(3) "Authority", The Missouri-St. Louis metropolitan airportauthority;

(4) "Authority airport", any airport or airports acquired,constructed, reconstructed, expanded, improved or leased by theauthority and within the Missouri-St. Louis metropolitan area;

(5) "Governor", the governor of the state of Missouri;

(6) "Greater St. Louis metropolitan area", The Missouri-St.Louis metropolitan area and the counties of Madison, Monroe andSt. Clair in the state of Illinois;

(7) "Instrument airport", an airport which has one or morerunways equipped or to be equipped with precision electronicnavigation aids or landing aids or other air navigationfacilities suitable to permit the landing of aircraft by aninstrumental approach under restricted visibility conditions byinstrument flight rules;

(8) "Major airport", an airport serving air passengers, aircargo, and air freight by accommodating certified scheduled aircarriers;

(9) "Missouri-St. Louis metropolitan area", the city of St.Louis and the counties of St. Louis, St. Charles, Franklin andJefferson in the state of Missouri;

(10) "Noninstrument airport", an airport, other than aninstrument airport, with no precision navigation or landing aidsand suitable to permit the landing of aircraft by visual flightrules;

(11) "Person", any individual, partnership, firm, company,corporation, association, trust or estate or his or its legalrepresentative or agent;

(12) "Related facilities", any buildings, structures, orother facilities necessary or appropriate for the control andsafe operation of aircraft, the sheltering, servicing, or repairof aircraft, the receiving, discharging, sheltering, feeding, andsupplemental transportation of passengers, the parking of motorvehicles, and the receipt, transfer, storage and discharge ofcargo, or for any purpose reasonably incident thereto, andtogether with such residential, commercial, and industrialbuildings, structures and facilities and public parks, recreationareas and conservation areas as shall be compatible with theoperation of the authority airport and which may produceincidental income available for the expenses of any authorityairport or public benefit, located or to be located on anauthority airport and any aids to navigation necessary for theoperation of any authority airport wherever located, and any landon which any aids are located;

(13) "Structure", an object constructed or installed by man,including, but not limited to, buildings, towers, smokestacks,light towers, and overhead transmission lines; and

(14) "Tree", any object of natural growth.
