Advisory commission for physical therapists created--powers andduties--appointment, terms, expenses, compensation, staff,meetings, quorum.

334.625. 1. There is hereby established an "Advisory Commission forPhysical Therapists" which shall guide, advise and make recommendations tothe board. The commission shall approve the examination required bysection 334.530 and shall assist the board in carrying out the provisionsof sections 334.500 to 334.620.

2. The commission shall be appointed no later than October 1, 1989,and shall consist of five members appointed by the governor with the adviceand consent of the senate. Each member shall be a citizen of the UnitedStates and a resident of this state and four shall be licensed as physicaltherapists by this state, and one shall be licensed as a physical therapistassistant by this state. Members shall be appointed to serve three-yearterms, except that the first commission appointed shall consist of onemember whose term shall be for one year; two members whose terms shall befor three years; and two members whose terms shall be for two years. Thepresident of the Missouri Physical Therapy Association in office at thetime shall, at least ninety days prior to the expiration of the term of acommission member or as soon as feasible after a vacancy on the commissionotherwise occurs, submit to the director of the division of professionalregistration a list of five physical therapists if the commission memberwhose term is expiring is a physical therapist, or five physical therapistassistants if the commission member whose term is expiring is a physicaltherapist assistant, with the exception that the first commissioner toexpire or vacancy created on the commission after August 28, 2007, shall befilled by the appointment of a physical therapist assistant. Each physicaltherapist and physical therapist assistant on the list submitted to thedivision of professional registration shall be qualified and willing tofill the vacancy in question, with the request and recommendation that thegovernor appoint one of the five persons so listed, and with the list sosubmitted, the president of the Missouri Physical Therapy Association shallinclude in his or her letter of transmittal a description of the method bywhich the names were chosen by that association.

3. Notwithstanding any other provision of law to the contrary, anyappointed member of the commission shall receive as compensation an amountestablished by the director of the division of professional registrationnot to exceed seventy dollars per day for commission business plus actualand necessary expenses. The director of the division of professionalregistration shall establish by rule guidelines for payment. All staff forthe commission shall be provided by the board of healing arts.

4. The commission shall hold an annual meeting at which it shallelect from its membership a chairman and secretary. The commission mayhold such additional meetings as may be required in the performance of itsduties, provided that notice of every meeting must be given to each memberat least ten days prior to the date of the meeting. A quorum of the boardshall consist of a majority of its members.
