Personal service authorized, how served.

416.530. In lieu of mailing the notification to thedefendant in a foreign state, plaintiff may cause saidnotification to be personally served in the foreign state on thedefendant by an adult person not a party to the suit bydelivering said notification to the defendant or by offering tomake the delivery in case defendant refuses to accept same, or byhaving said notification served on defendant by an officer dulyqualified to serve legal process in the state or jurisdictionwhere the defendant is found and the officer's return showing theservice to have been made, filed in the case on or before thereturn day of the process, or within such further time as thecourt may allow. Upon the service a general judgment may betaken against defendant or defendants.
