Escaped prisoner may be retaken after term expires.

544.160. If any person sentenced to imprisonment in a countyjail or in the penitentiary on a conviction for a criminaloffense shall escape, he may be pursued, retaken and imprisonedagain, notwithstanding the term for which he was sentenced to beimprisoned may have expired at the time he is retaken, and remainso imprisoned until tried for such escape, or until he bedischarged by a failure to prosecute therefor.
