Witnesses to enter into recognizance, when.

545.740. Whenever a criminal case shall be continued, allthe witnesses in attendance shall be called by the court, and asmany of them as the parties may desire shall be required to enterinto recognizance for their appearance on the day of the nextterm on which such case shall be set for trial, which day shallbe fixed and designated by the court at the time the continuanceis granted; and if any such witness shall fail to appear in saidcourt when so called, for the purpose of being recognized, suchwitness shall forfeit all his fees as witness in such cause, andmay be compelled to appear by attachment.
