Local government may require background checks.
573.503. Notwithstanding any provision of law to thecontrary, any city not within a county and any county may, byorder or ordinance, require a background check be conducted onall employees of any adult cabaret to ascertain whether any suchemployees have been convicted of or have pled guilty to anymisdemeanor or felony involving prostitution or aiding orabetting prostitution, drug possession or trafficking, moneylaundering, tax evasion, or illegal gambling activity.
