Correctional facility or mental health institution releasing on paroleor discharge, official in charge, duties.
589.403. Any person to whom subsection 1 of section 589.400 applieswho is paroled, discharged, or otherwise released from any correctionalfacility of the department of corrections or any mental health institutionwhere such person was confined shall be informed by the official in chargeof such correctional facility or mental health institution of the person'spossible duty to register pursuant to sections 589.400 to 589.425. If suchperson is required to register pursuant to sections 589.400 to 589.425, theofficial in charge of the correctional facility or the mental healthinstitution shall complete the initial registration prior to release andforward the offender's registration, within three business days, to thechief law enforcement official of the county or city not within a countywhere the person expects to reside upon discharge, parole or release. Whenthe person lists an address where he or she expects to reside that is notin this state, the initial registration shall be forwarded to the Missouristate highway patrol.
