Governor's advisory council on agriculture science and technologycreated, members, duties, expenses.

620.1500. 1. There is hereby created within the department ofeconomic development the "Governor's Advisory Council on AgricultureScience and Technology". The council shall consist of seven members. Twomembers shall be Missouri farmers, of which one member shall be a Missourigrain producer and one member shall be a Missouri livestock producer. Themembers of the council shall be appointed by and serve at the pleasure ofthe governor. The governor shall appoint one of the members aschairperson. At the council's discretion, it may call upon experts foradvice and consultation on the issues in question.

2. The council's duties shall include but not be limited to thefollowing, as they relate to agricultural science and technology:

(1) Apprising the governor of new developments in the scientific andtechnological communities;

(2) Providing scientific inquiry into regulatory matters, upon thegovernor's request;

(3) Identifying strengths, weaknesses, and long-term needs of thestate regarding science and technology;

(4) Predicting potential economic opportunities for the state in theplant biotechnology industry; and

(5) Apprising the governor of new developments in forestrytechnologies.

3. The members of the council shall serve without compensation exceptthat the members shall be reimbursed for reasonable travel and meetingexpenses related to the functions of the council.
