     85-8-306. Nominations. Candidates for the office of commissioner to be filled by election may be nominated by petition filed with the election administrator or deputy election administrator at least 75 days before the election and signed by at least five electors of the district. If no nominations are made, the electors of the district shall write on the ballots the name or names of the persons for whom they desire to vote. This section does not prevent an elector from voting for any qualified person, although the name does not appear on the official ballot.
