37-460. Beaver; permit to destroy; beaver pelts; restrictions.Whenever beaver are destroying trees or otherwise damaging property, except as provided in section 37-562, the person whose trees or property is being damaged by beaver may notify the commission by registered or certified mail of such damage. If the commission does not elect to remove the beaver within thirty days after such notice, it shall immediately issue a permit valid for ninety days authorizing the person whose trees or property is being damaged to destroy the beaver or their dens on such property in any manner not otherwise prohibited by law. Beaver pelts taken under the authority of a permit issued under this section shall not be sold or used unless the permitholder also possesses a current and valid fur-harvesting permit.
