Section 384:24 Prohibited; Forfeiture.
No individual, partnership, association, or corporation except national banks and such corporations as are thereto empowered by their charters granted by this state shall receive deposits and transact business in the way or manner of a bank or in such way or manner as to lead the public to believe that the business is that of a bank. Whoever violates any provision of this section shall forfeit to the state $100 a day for every day or part thereof during which such violation continues.
