§  470-a.  Salary  basis for computing retirement benefits; temporary.  If a guard or other employee in a state  prison  or  reformatory  or  an  employee  of  the  department  of  correction  shall  retire pursuant to  section four hundred and seventy of this chapter, the reduction  of  his  salary,  during  all or as to any part of the year immediately preceding  his retirement, made in accordance with a scale of percentage reductions  prescribed by a law or laws enacted by the  legislature  at  its  annual  sessions of the years nineteen hundred thirty-three and nineteen hundred  thirty-four,  shall not operate to reduce his retirement compensation or  pension. The basis for computing his retirement compensation or  pension  of  one-half  or  a  proportion  of one-half, as the case may be, of the  salary paid to him for the year  immediately  preceding  his  retirement  shall be his full salary on which the percentage reduction so prescribed  is computed, according to the several pay-rolls, and which he would have  been paid had such percentage reductions not been made or required.
